A loan helped to buy more cattle and to get ahead in Cabanillas.

Hamell's story

Hamell is 46 years old and lives in Cabanillas, in the south of Peru, an area where ranching is the sustenance of many families as well as a job that demands sacrifice day after day.  From very early in the morning, in the intense cold of the region, he devotes his effort to the care of his cattle, convinced that only with discipline and resolve can he support himself in an environment where opportunities are limited.

Throughout his life he has faced difficulties characteristic of the country, but he has never stopped working.  His goal is to buy more cattle to fatten, which will enable him to expand production and ensure better earnings.  The loan he's requesting represents a real chance to keep on fighting and keep alive the effort he has sustained for so many years.

To help Hamell is to support a man who has made ranching his life and who, despite the difficulties, continues to bet on getting ahead with honest work.  With your help he'll be able to strengthen his production and demonstrate that perseverance paves the way, even in the harshest places in the Andean countryside.
