A loan helped to buy dietary supplements.

Marta Adela's story

Women entrepreneurs keep themselves very busy serving customers, without neglecting their household and family responsibilities.

Marta is one of them. She is originally from the Department/State of Sacatepéquez.

Marta is thirty-four years old and lives with her husband, who is a carpenter. They are raising three children (aged 2 to 16). Two of the children are in secondary school.

She only completed first grade and then began working as a cleaner in homes and offices near her community.

Despite the difficulties she faced growing up, Marta took the initiative to start her own business six years ago, opening a small supermarket in her home.

She also has a second business selling food supplements, which she delivers as they are ordered. With a Kiva individual loan, Marta will be able to invest in her second business by purchasing a variety of nutritional supplements.

Marta is very grateful for the interest shown by Kiva lenders in financing these loans.

She is part of a new program called “Bridge to Success,” benefiting from weekly business training to take her businesses to the next level.

Thank you, Kiva lenders.
