Kagala Development Group's story

16 years is the length of time that 49-year-old Dodovico has demonstrated his hard work ethic in his food sales business in the many food markets in and around the metropolis of Mukono. Dodovico is a family man who takes pride in the fact that his is a stable family with 2 buoyant children aged 22 and 25. They are all in good schools and giving a good account of themselves. He says his wife is always at his beck and call, helping him as he sells his food (bananas, sweet potatoes and beans).

The difficult experiences he has gone through in the past 16 years of running this business have made him come to terms with what he needs to do to elevate his business prospects. He has also learnt to take stock of what will create a bigger niche for his business and how to make the best out of bad business bargains. In this kind of business, one is destined to climb the ladder of financial success as long as you continuously restock because demand for food will be high, even if food prices rise. Dodovico has always strived to restock whenever he runs short on supplies.

This business was started with cash savings from his previous charcoal and timber trade. Weekly, he says this business generates shillings 100,000 profit. With this loan, he is going to purchase more foods to resell.
