A loan helped to purchase fertilizers and insecticides for a lemon farming business.

Catarina's story

Women play multifaceted and essential roles in lemon farming, empowering themselves and, as a result, improving their family conditions and, consequently, improving the well-being of their communities.

One of these women is Catarina, a thirty-eight-year-old married mother of four children, all over seven years old. All of her children are elementary and secondary school students. Although she only completed three years of school, she seized the opportunity to learn while working as a coffee picker. Four years ago, Catarina decided to start her own lemon farming business, a product she delivers wholesale to the local market. She wants her business to grow and prosper, so she applied for a Kiva individual loan to purchase fertilizers and insecticides to ensure a good harvest. She is part of the new program called "Bridge to Success." This program provides entrepreneurial and visionary women like Catarina with business advice to grow their businesses.

Kiva Lenders, your generous credit support for these women will allow them to aspire to a better future. Thank you!
