A loan helped to buy more beds, pillows, and plastic dressers to increase her inventory.

Adelina Marisol's story

Twenty-six year old Adelina was a member of a Friendship Bridge Trust Bank where she participated in the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and healthcare. She realized that she needed personalized training and joined the “Bridge To Success” program. She opened her business one year ago and sells beds, pillows, and plastic dressers as a street vendor. Her husband helps her with the business and drives a car to carry the bulky furniture. Her goal is to expand the business, move it into its own space and then open an additional business, a convenience store, that she feels is needed in her community in the department/state of Huehuetenango. She requests a Kiva loan to buy additional beds, pillows, and a dresser to resell.

Every two weeks, Adelina meets with a facilitator who is helping her operate her business more efficiently. In the program, she will gain confidence and focus as the facilitator will help her with advice and targeted training to help her meet her needs and goals. The training will last from four to six months. In the end, Adelina will become a more astute business owner and gain confidence and self-esteem.

Thank you, Kiva lenders, for lending a helping hand to Adelina!! She is looking forward to being successful as an entrepreneur and breadwinner!
