A loan helped to buy used casual and traditional clothing, kitchenware, and sleepwear.

Elida's story

Elida, 50, is a mother of three grown children over the age of twenty-two; she has one grandson. She attended school for eight years and then had to stop because her parents did not have sufficient funds. She is married to a taxi driver.

Elida has a business selling second-hand and traditional clothing, as well as catalog products and jewelry. She started the business five years ago and sells from her home, online, and by special order. Her daughter and a daughter-in-law help her with the business, making deliveries. Her goal is to have her business in a separate building so that she can attractively display her merchandise.

Elida requests her first Kiva loan to buy used casual and traditional clothing, kitchenware, and sleepwear.

Elida just joined the Friendship Bridge “Bridge to Success” program with the goal of taking her business to the next level. She will meet with a Facilitator every two weeks, and the two of them will identify goals and ways to achieve those goals. Elida will be learning about effective business management practices, budgeting, bookkeeping, and the importance of keeping an accurate inventory. She will also learn about the importance of customer service.

Thank you, Kiva lenders, for lending a helping hand to Elida! She is determined to empower herself and move her business along!
