A loan helped to buy two refrigerators.

Ruth Denis's story

Twenty-two year old Ruth is married to a car salesman and the couple has a seven-month old son. She is a high school graduate and has her diploma in accounting. However, she has never worked in that field. Instead, she has transformed space in her home and five years ago, opened a small pharmacy and convenience store. She shares that in the state/department of Huehuetenango where she lives, there are very few convenience stores. Ruth hopes to buy two refrigerators where she will store dairy products and beverages. She requests her first Kiva loan for this purpose. She looks forward to increasing the size of the business and increasing income.

Ruth elected to enroll in the Friendship Bridge “Bridge to Success” program where she will learn to manage her business more efficiently. She will receive targeted training and advice relevant to her current business needs. She will meet with a Facilitator every two weeks. Together, they will identify her goals and then create an action plan to achieve them by the end of the current loan cycle. The program will give her increased focus, confidence and raise her self-esteem.

Thank you Kiva lenders, for helping Ruth take a big step toward a more successful future! She is most appreciative!
