Her name is Djeneba, she is married to a farmer. She lives with her husband and five children aged between 15 and 3, three of whom attend school in a town in Mali. She works primarily in agriculture and secondarily in livestock farming.
To raise more funds to cover her peanut and sesame cultivation costs, she is asking for a loan. Her dream is to make a large profit from her business so that she can be financially independent, ensure the well-being of her children, and employ one of her family members. With 15 years of experience, Djeneba finds her business profitable, as her projected monthly profit is estimated at 35,000 CFA francs.
She buys supplies and sells wholesale and retail in local markets. Low rainfall and stray animals are the obstacles she most commonly faces.
Djeneba is the one holding the hoe in the middle of the photo.
