A loan helped to purchase more cooking items to increase her business.

Jariatu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 40-year-old Jariatu from Wara Wara. She is a married businesswoman with five children between the ages of 7 and 19 years old. All are currently attending school. She started this business to take care of her family.

Jariatu runs a retail business and sells bread, beans, and couscous to her customers around the community. She has been in this business for the past 10 years. Jariatu says that her challenge is slow sales.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase more cooking items; onion, bread, peppers, beans, etc. to increase her business. Jariatu says that the extra income from this loan will help to take care of her family. In the future, she would like to expand to a large scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.

This loan is special because:

It provides access to funding in areas where there are limited alternative sources of finance.
