A loan helped a minority-owned GIS firm expand digital infrastructure and improve mapping tools.

Louis's story

I’m a proud Mexican-American husband, father, and entrepreneur from West Covina, California. My journey started with a passion for technology and public service, which led me to work in local government as a GIS Specialist. Over time, I realized how much underserved communities rely on outdated infrastructure, and how tools like mapping, data analysis, and digital dashboards could help improve services, equity, and accountability. That’s what inspired me to launch Castaneda Networks LLC — a GIS and smart city consulting firm I co-own with my wife.

We’ve built our business from scratch, funding everything with our own savings and credit, while raising two kids and working full-time. My wife and I share a mission: to create something that reflects our values — resilience, integrity, and community. We want to bring modern solutions to the public sector and help local agencies manage their infrastructure smarter and more transparently.

This loan would help us grow our technical capacity and take on larger projects, allowing us to hire locally, mentor other small business owners, and build a future for our family. I’m not just building a business, I’m building a legacy for my kids, and showing them that with grit, purpose, and vision, you can turn an idea into impact.

This loan is special because:

It supports a small business owner with 0%-interest, zero-fee capital.
