A loan helped to purchase more rice, red oil, vita, pepper and soap to sell.

Watta's story

Watta is a 50-year-old businesswoman from Liberia. She is single and has three children. Although she never had the opportunity to attend school, Watta has worked hard to build a successful business. She sells rice, red oil, vita, pepper and soap. Watta learned the business from her mother and started with some financial support from her savings. She has been in this line of work for 20 years and operates her business from Monday through Saturday.

Watta enjoys her business because it allows her to be an independent woman. She is applying for a loan to purchase more rice, red oil, vita, pepper and soap to sell, which will also help her repay her loan instalments. Her dream is to buy a piece of land. She is grateful for the support and says thank you for the help.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
