A loan helped to buy more shoes for sale.

Falidah's story

Falidah is 39 years old and lives in the town of Matugga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has four children, with three of them currently in school.

For the past 15 years, Falidah has been working hard to manage her retail business, where she sells fashionable shoes.

To help expand her business, Falidah has requested a loan of 1,500,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more shoes for sale, and will help Falidah to generate greater profits. Her production will increase and attract more revenue. She will manage to buy food for her family.

Falidah hopes that in the future she will be able to build a house of her own.

She is a member of BRAC's microfinance (MF) program. The program primarily serves small group members like Falidah who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
