A loan helped to purchase more ingredients that will be used to make pufpuf, plantains and spaghetti to sell and to buy charcoal to sell.

Siah's story

This is 27-year-old Siah, from Liberia. She lives with her partner and has 2 children. One of her children is in school. Siah completed school up to sixth grade.

She is a strong woman who sells pufpuf, plantains, spaghetti and charcoal. For the past 3 years, she has been operating her sales. She learned how to sell from her mother and she started the business with her own savings.

She has no issues with her business and works Monday through Saturday. She uses a car to transport supplies to her business site.

To continue her sales and to grow her business, Siah applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner. The loan will help her purchase more ingredients that will be used to make pufpuf, plantains and spaghetti to sell. She will also buy charcoal. Her aim is to generate greater profits.

She loves her business because it supports her family. Her dream, for the future, is to improve her business and to build a house.

Siah expresses her heartfelt thanks to BRAC and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
