Kaawa's story

Kaawa is 32 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children who are both currently in school.

For the past 5 years Kaawa has been working hard to manage her everage business, which sells soft drinks. To help expand her business, Kaawa has requested a loan of 1,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more soft drinks like soda, juice and water to sale, and will help Kaawa to generate greater profits and her production will increase and attract more revenue. She will manage to provide basic needs for her family like food and clothes for her children.

Kaawa hopes that in the future she will be able to plan to set up a wholesale shop that sells soft drinks. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance (MF) program. The program primarily serves small group members like Kaawa who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
