A loan helped to purchase more rice to sell.

Mafanta's story

Mafanta, a vibrant 36-year-old, who lives with her partner and has 3 children, has overcome many obstacles in life. She never had the opportunity to go to school. She became a successful businesswoman, running a thriving cooked food business. She learned the trade from her sister. For the past 5 years, she’s managed her sales seamlessly, transporting her supplies with ease using either a car or a kehkeh.

She works tirelessly 6 days a week, from Monday to Saturday, building strong relationships with her loyal customers. With her sights set on expanding her business, she has applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner. This support will allow her to purchase more rice to sell, bringing her one step closer to realizing her dream of growth.

Mafanta is deeply grateful for the financial assistance from the funders, which will empower her to reach new heights in her business journey.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
