A loan helped a Black woman-owned brand (& 2-time Kiva borrower) grow inventory& meet demand for inclusive holiday products.

Jasmine's story

Hello, I’m Jasmine from Bentonville, Arkansas—and I LOVE celebrations! Growing up, my mom was the queen of holiday magic—an avid crafter and collector who turned our home into a winter wonderland every Christmas. Her decorations always centered Black joy: choir kids, Black Santa and Mrs. Claus, angels, and snowy village scenes she’d collected over the years. It wasn’t until I tried to recreate that magic as an adult that I realized how rare it was to find celebration items that represented us. That realization became the spark.

After earning my degree in Business Administration and working in corporate retail, I met my best friend J’Aaron—an incredible artist. Together, we had our “aha!” moment: what if we created the kinds of products we wished existed? We later teamed up with Madia, a sourcing and product development expert, and Black Paper Party was born.

Since then, we've grown from Christmas wrapping paper to full seasonal collections sold online and in major retailers. Now, we’re ready to scale. This loan will help us hire key staff, fund inventory, launch our new line of everyday stationery, and build out our first brick-and-mortar pop-up experience. With more people gathering and celebrating, our goal is to ensure Black families can find beautiful, high-quality products that reflect their culture—not just during the holidays, but all year long.

This loan is special because:

It supports a small business owner with 0%-interest, zero-fee capital.
