Silvia's story

As a Latina entrepreneur and single mother in Vermont—where over 91% of the population is White and only about 2.2% identifies as Hispanic—I’ve learned how important it is to create space for culture, flavor, and identity. Three years ago I made a huge life change, I left the security of my job and took a leap into entrepreneurship and started Mas Comida with a small food cart, determined to bring the vibrant taste of my roots to a state where it’s rarely found. Running a food business on my own has been intense—some days come with little to no sleep, juggling cooking, prepping, setting up, and being present for my daughter. But the hard work is worth it every time I see someone light up after trying something new and authentic.

Mas Comida has been a great blessing to my life. I have had articles in local magazines such as Seven Days, and amazing reviews from the community. I am now more than ready to begin a new journey with a seasoning line. I’m creating my seasoning line with the hope to bring the vibrant, bold flavors of Latino cuisine to everyday tables. It will be my way of sharing the richness of our culture through food, making it easy for anyone to add authentic, Latin-inspired flavor to their meals. This line won’t just be about seasoning, it will represent tradition, family, and a deep rooted love for cooking.
