A loan helped to buy more buckets, locks, nails, paint and other goods to sell.

Siah's story

This is Siah, 48, from Liberia. She lives with her husband and 4 children, currently in school. Siah is a hardworking businesswoman who sells buckets, locks, nails, paint ,and other goods. She learned how to sell from her mother and started the business with earnings from her husband. She sells Monday through Saturday, spending 12 hours at her business site and has no problem with her sales. Siah applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner. With this loan, she will buy more buckets, locks, nails, paint and other goods to sell to her good clients. She likes her business because it gives her profits. Her aim for the future is to build houses and continue sending her children to school. Siah is highly grateful for the financial support rendered.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
