A loan helped to Buy Irish potatoes, cooking oil and charcoal.

Daphin's story

Daphin is 35 years old and lives in the town of Njeru in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children who are currently in school. For the past 5 years, Daphin has been working hard to manage her fast food business, which sells chips. To help expand her business, Daphin has requested a loan of 1,200,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy Irish potatoes, cooking oil and charcoal, and will help Daphin to generate greater profits and improve on the sales and hence the standard of living. Daphin hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a vehicle. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance (MF) program. The program primarily serves small group members like Daphin who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
