A loan helped to purchase more fresh pepper, bitter balls, red oil, charcoal and other items to sell.

Teta's story

Teta, a vibrant 35-year-old, who lives with her partner and has five children, has overcome many obstacles in life. She never had the opportunity to attend school.

She became a successful businesswoman, running a thriving fresh pepper, bitter balls, red oil, charcoal and other items. She learned the trade from her friend. For the past 16 years, she’s managed her sales seamlessly, transporting her supplies with ease using either a car or a kehkeh.

She works tirelessly six days a week, from Monday to Saturday, building strong relationships with her loyal customers. With her sights set on expanding her business, she has applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner. This support will allow her to purchase more fresh pepper, bitter balls, red oil, charcoal and other items to sell, bringing her one step closer to realizing her dream of growth.

Teta is deeply grateful for the financial assistance from the funders, which will empower her to reach new heights in her business journey.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
