Jose Roberto is a passion fruit producer in Carepa, Antioquia, with six years of experience in the sector. Married and the head of his household, he has turned his four hectares into a profitable project that currently provides employment for two people in the community.
Despite his track record and the productive potential of his farm, both he and other local producers face serious barriers when it comes to accessing credit through traditional banks, which limits their ability to invest in key machinery that could help them improve yields and ensure the quality of their fruit.
Purchasing machinery for his crop will help reduce losses caused by pests and disease in the upcoming season, increase the quality of his passion fruit, and earn him a better price in the local market.
