A loan helped to buy acacia seedlings.

Giang's story

Mrs. Giang is 47 years old and currently lives with her family in Ngoc Lac District. She is a member of an ethnic minority group in Vietnam. Her household includes one dependent: a young grandchild whom she cares for while the child’s parents work far from home.

The family’s income comes mainly from Mrs. Giang’s work collecting acacia bark for local households and her husband's irregular manual labor. However, both sources of income are unstable, and the family is classified as a low-income household in their community. In an effort to improve their living conditions, Mrs. Giang has taken her second loan from Thanh Hoa MFI to invest in planting acacia trees. She plans to purchase young trees and expand her small-scale forestry activities, hoping that with her hard work, the trees will grow well and generate a stable source of income over time. Beyond financial benefits, she is also proud to contribute to environmental efforts by helping prevent soil erosion and promoting reforestation in her mountainous area. Her previous loans have already helped the family make progress.

One of the main challenges she faces is the remote location of her home, which limits access to services and markets. Looking ahead, Mrs. Giang wishes for good health and happiness for her family and hopes their livelihoods will improve enough to allow her to save for old age.
