A loan helped to buy more household supplies like rice, pasta, snacks, and cooking oils to sell.

Ramulah's story

Ramula is 52-years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is married and has 5 children who are all currently in school. For the past 8 years, Ramula has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells household supplies like rice, pasta, snacks, and cooking oils.

To help expand her business, Ramula has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. This loan will be used to buy more household supplies like rice, pasta, snacks, and cooking oils to sell. This will help Ramula to generate a greater profit, repay her loan on time, and pay some of her bills.

She hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business and increase her savings.

Ramula is a member of BRAC's Microfinance (MF) program. The program primarily serves small group members, like Ramula, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
