A loan helped to stock gas cylinders to provide families with sufficient fuel, improve delivery, and serve his clients efficiently.

Edward's story

Edward is a gas-tounding entrepreneur from Murang’a, where he has turned cooking fuel into a hot commodity, literally. At just 31 years old, this devoted husband and father of two is lighting the way for his family’s future through his LPG gas cylinder sales business. His wife is also in business, making them a power couple fueled by ambition (and maybe a few cylinders of gas). Edward takes pride in the essential service he provides, ensuring that households and eateries never run out of fuel for their daily meals.

However, increasing demand has put a strain on his current supply, and he’s running into more bottlenecks than a gas depot on a public holiday. With the support, he plans to boost his stock levels of gas cylinders, improve delivery times, and serve his customers more efficiently. Having already repaid a previous loan from ECLOF Kenya, Kiva’s field partner, Edward has proven he knows how to handle credit responsibly—he’s no flash in the pan. His growing business also provides local jobs, helping others put food on their tables, too.

Edward dreams of giving his children a quality education and a future as bright as a well-lit stove. With a little help from global lenders, he’s ready to turn up the heat on opportunity.
