A loan helped to buy more coffee and beans to sell.

Alice's story

Alice is 41 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children with 2 of them currently in school.

For the past 5 years, Alice has been working hard to manage her business where she sells coffee. To help expand her business, Alice has requested a loan of 1,800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more coffee and beans to sell, and will help Alice to generate greater profits and attract more revenue. This will help her to manage to provide basic needs for her family like food and clothes for her children.

Alice hopes that in the future she will be able to complete building her house. She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance (MF) program. The program primarily serves small group members who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
