A loan helped to buy matoke (green plantains), posho (maize flour), rice, beans, meat, and other assorted ingredients.


Nubu's story

Nubu is 31 years old and lives in the town of Mityana, in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is Married and has 4 children with 2 of them currently in school.

For the past 5 years, Nubu has been working hard to manage her catering business that fries chips and chicken. To help expand her business, Nubu has requested a loan of 800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda.

The loan will be used to buy more bags of Irish potatoes to fry up with chicken and serve together. This will help Nubu generate greater profits and manage to improve on her standards of living by providing enough food for her family.

Nubu hopes that in the future she will be able to build rentals for business. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
