Emi̇ne's story

Emine, born in 1973, in Kayseri, is a determined and resilient woman who has overcome many challenges on her entrepreneurial journey. Married at the age of 17, she is now a mother of two. While her husband works as a civil servant, Emine has always sought ways to contribute to the family’s finances.

In the early years of her marriage, financial difficulties led her to work in a haberdashery, but she had to leave her job when she had children. Around 20 years ago, she wanted to start selling socks and asked for financial support from her husband, who initially opposed the idea. Undeterred, she found a way to buy the products herself—and incredibly, she sold them all in a single day. Encouraged by this success, she began purchasing products from wholesalers daily and selling them. As her business grew, her husband also started supporting her efforts.

With the support of a Kiva microloan, she hopes to expand her inventory by purchasing more socks and underwear, allowing her to offer a greater variety of products, attract more customers, and further grow her business.
