A loan helped to buy more maize for sale.

Kasifa's story

Kasifa is 52 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She has five children, with two of them currently in school. For the past 20 years, Kasifa has been working hard to manage her produce business, where she sells dried maize.

To help expand her business, Kasifa has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more maize for sale.

This will help Kasifa to generate greater profits, and her production will increase and attract more revenue. She will manage to provide basic needs for her family, such as food and clothes for her children.

Kasifa hopes that in the future she will be able to complete building her house.

She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
