Bokk Deggo Port Group's story

Dieynaba, the representative of the Bokk Deggo Port group, is 28 years old. Married and the mother of 3 children who all attend school, she lives in the family home. Her husband is a farmer and supports her business. In order to boost her business so that she can provide for her family, she is working with a group of women who are requesting the help of Visionfund Sénégal.

The group have taken out a loan to farm small ruminants. The women will get their livestock from the weekly markets in the commune. They will also resell the animals at the same markets once their have raised them for a few months.

The women earn a profit of around 100 000 CFA francs after making their sales. This enables them to provide for their families; to pay for their children's education and healthcare and to buy enough food.

In this zone, the main difficulties the women face are the loss and theft of livestock. However, with the help of their spouses, they have managed to make pens for their animals.
