A loan helped to buy shrimp and mackerel.

Tâm's story

Tâm, a resilient woman from Hậu Lộc district, is 44 years old and the mother of four children. While her eldest daughter is already working, two of her younger children are still in school and dependent on her. Her husband suffers from bone pain and is unable to work consistently, adding to the family’s financial strain.

With over 10 years of experience in small-scale seafood trading, Tâm relies on this business as her main source of income. However, due to limited capital, she struggles to buy enough seafood to attract more customers and increase her sales. Her husband, though occasionally working as a fisherman, has an unstable income due to his health issues. As a result, Tâm bears the primary responsibility for supporting the family, and they remain classified as a low-income household in their community.

Since 2011, Tâm has turned to Thanh Hoá MFI for financial support, and past loans have helped ease some of her burdens. Now, she is seeking her fifth loan to further invest in her seafood business by purchasing shrimp and mackerel in larger quantities to improve her income.

Living far from the town center presents challenges, but Tâm remains determined. She dreams of a future where her family is healthy and happy, where they can afford to build a new home, and where she can save money as a safety net against unexpected hardships like illness or unemployment.
