A loan helped to purchase enough patterns of clothes for making new dresses.

Passy's story

Passy is 44 years old and lives in the town of Matugga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has 3 children, 1 of whom is currently in school. For the past 20 years, Passy has been working hard to manage her tailoring business, where she sews clothes to sell.

To help expand her business, Passy has requested a loan of 4,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase enough patterns of clothes for making new dresses and skirts to sell. This will help Passy generate greater profits and improve her family's standard of living by providing them with enough food and basic needs.

Passy hopes that in the future she will be able to build rental houses for business. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program that primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
