A loan helped to purchase more bamboo materials needed for crafting paper offerings.

Thanh's story

Thanh, a 39-year-old woman, lives with her family in a rural area of Triệu Sơn District. She is married and has three school-aged children. Her husband works as a physical education teacher and also takes on construction jobs to make ends meet. However, his income is just enough to cover their basic needs.

Nearly five years ago, Thanh decided to open a small convenience store near her home. The shop mainly sells paper votive offerings, an essential item for local residents who follow the tradition of honoring their ancestors and celebrating special occasions with these items.

Despite her efforts, Thanh faces challenges in expanding her business. She recently applied for a second loan from Thanh Hóa Microfinance Institution (MFI) to purchase more bamboo materials needed for crafting the paper offerings. Thanh hopes this additional investment will help stabilize her business and improve her family's income over time.
