A loan helped to buy a used machine, a motor and fertilizers.

Erick Omar's story

With 8 years of experience as a cattle breeder, he owns a herd with 20 heads of cattle, predominantly Brahman. Production of milk oscillates between 30 and 35 liters and sells for 12 Lempiras ($5.64 USD) per liter, which represents a constant source of income.

In addition, he complements his cattle breeding with coffee production. He has a 5.12 acre crop with the varieties Lempira and Parainema that produced 45 quintals (4500 Kg) of gold coffee in his 2023-2024 harvest. He also cultivates mini-bananas in 3.4 acres, a product with high demand, and basic grains in 2.55 acres of corn of the Rando variety.

He is requesting a loan to buy a used machine and a motor, and also the fertilizer Nutri Café, as well as Roya (coffee-leaf rust) preventatives, with the goal of optimizing his farming and cattle-breeding activities.

His dream is to strengthen production, diversify his crops and guarantee stable earnings to improve his family's quality of life.

He is grateful to Kiva for the support it has provided, as it is key for continued growth and reaching his goals.

January 2025.
