Daouda, who is doing the thumbs up sign and holding onto the bananas, is a farmer and market gardener. He is illiterate, hard-working and 43 years old. He lives in a rural area with his family. His wife grows onions. Daouda is the father of 5 children (2 boys and 3 girls) who are all under the age of 18. Two of his daughters attend school.
Daouda owns a very large field near the river on which he has been growing different crops (bananas, oranges, papayas) for over 20 years. Over the course of that time, he has dealt with periods of drought when the river has dried up, and he has also had to deal with a lack of funds, which is why he has now requested help from RMCR so that he can continue farming.
This loan will be used to buy more fuel and fertiliser, as well as some engines. Daouda gets his supplies at the market in the commune and sells his fruit in various towns, including the capital where he sells most of his produce.
After he makes his sales, he can end up with at least 85,000 CFA francs worth of profit. It's thanks to his business that he is able, with the help of his wife, to cover the family's expenses.
In future, Daouda would like to be financially independent, to carry out drilling on his land, and to ensure that his children have a good future.
