Hadijjah's story

Hadijjah is 33 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Kabuusu region of Uganda. She is married and has 5 children with 3 of them currently in school.

For the past 7 years Hadijjah has been working hard to manage her cosmetics shop, which sells body lotion and perfume. To help expand her business, Hadijjah has requested a loan of 2,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase enough body lotion and perfume and will help Hadijjah to generate greater profits and improve on her family standard of living by providing them with enough food and clothes.

Hadijjah hopes that in the future she will be able to build rental houses for a busisness. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program. The program primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
