Daphine's story

Daphine is 27 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Kiyinda Mityana region of Uganda. She is married and has one child who is currently in school. For the past four years, Daphine has been working hard to manage her poultry farm, which sells chicken and eggs.

To help expand her business, Daphine has requested a loan of 1,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more chicks, feeders and drinkers, and will help her to generate greater profits and Improve the standard of living of the family. Daphine hopes that in the future she will be able to build a house.

Daphine is a member of BRAC's microfinance program. The program primarily serves small group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
