A loan helped to add a stock of dry fish.

Philster's story

Philster is a refugee mother to four children. All her children are school-going and they stay with her in Moyo which is in the West Nile region of Uganda.

You can imagine fleeing and leaving everything behind and starting a new life. It was not easy for this mother. But all the same she NEVER gave up but worked hard to be where she is today.

She is a farmer who grows sorghum, millet ,and beans. Besides this, she also has a small stall that sells dry fish. The demand for fish is high and there is a ready market.

She is not able to sell as much as she would like to due to the limited stock. She would like to add more stock of dry fish. At the moment her stock is really very little.

With this addition, she will be able to boost her sales, pay school fees, and offer her family a better life. She is very glad for all the support that VisionFund and Kiva have given her to be a better person.

This loan is special because:

It helps refugees in Uganda rebuild and sustain their livelihoods.
