A loan helped to kickstart a rice retail business.

Lucy's story

Lucy is a 22-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband in the Ashanti district in Ghana. She is requesting a Kiva loan to kickstart a rice retail business. She will reinvest her profits back into her business.

To repay the 'social interest' on her loan, Lucy plans to volunteer 2.5 hours per week as a CAMFED Business Mentor. In this role, she will help less-experienced local women become successful entrepreneurs. She will lead sessions to help them develop business acumen and share the lessons she learns from operating her own business.

This loan is special because:

It provides 0% interest loans to entrepreneurs that give back to their community by mentoring.
