A loan helped a member to buy farm inputs.

Maziko Club Group's story

Daniel is a youth farmer aged 34 years old. He is married with two children, aged 7 and 4 years, and they are both in school. He enjoys maize farming since maize is always on demand but farming requires someone to be well prepared with farm inputs especially fertilizer if the farmer is expecting to harvest more and high quality maize. Most of the youth group in Malawi are venturing into farming business unlike in the past where youths believed that farming is only for their parents. Daniel believes that with maize farming he can go far in his community and his dream is to become a commercial farmer one day. He joined FIFAD programme to have access to finance to buy farm inputs i.e fertilizer. This loan will help him to utilize the land for rain-fed farming since he will not struggle with getting fertilizer. In the picture he is standing third from left with a hand raised up.

The profits from the business will help him to support his two children who are very young and need full support from him, and the farming business will help his family to have enough food at all times.
