A loan helped to buy more fresh varieties of food for breakfast and lunch, and a fridge for soft drinks.

Immaculate's story

Immaculate is 32 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Kabuusu region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children who are both currently in school.

For the past 7 years, Immaculate has been working hard to manage her restaurant, which sells cooked food and soft drinks. To help expand her business, Immaculate has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more fresh varieties of food for breakfast and lunch, and a fridge for soft drinks. It will help Immaculate to generate greater profits and improve her family's standards of living by providing them with enough food.

Immaculate hopes that in the future she will be able to improve her business more. She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like Immaculate, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
