A loan helped helps an East LA-based, family-owned hot sauce company hire employees to expand.

Dylan's story

I’m Dylan, founder and partner at Chile del Abuelo, and I also run Alexander Luna Fine Arts (A.L.F.A.) Scholarships. I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in El Sereno and nearby areas. After attending East Los Angeles College, I transferred to UCLA where I earned a degree in communication. My professional journey has primarily been in hospitality, the legal field, and entrepreneurship.

During the pandemic, I teamed up with my grandfather to start Chile del Abuelo, a chile and hot sauce company based in El Sereno. Our goal was to share my grandfather's family chile recipes and provide a productive hobby for my grandfather, cousin, and me while we were all on lockdown. Since then, Chile del Abuelo has grown significantly. We remain committed to our initial goals: sharing my grandfather's chile with our community and supporting ALFA Scholarships, a nonprofit I co-founded with my cousin to honor my late uncle, Alex Luna. Alex was a local artist from El Sereno, and through ALFA Scholarships, we offer free art classes, community murals, and scholarships across Los Angeles.

This loan is special because:

It supports a small business owner with 0%-interest, zero-fee capital.
