A loan helped to buy more soap, rice, onions, pepper and oil to sell.

Weedor's story

Meet 45-year-old Weedor, from Liberia. She is married and has 5 children; three of whom are still schooling and all live at home. Weedor is a hardworking businesswoman who sells soap, rice, onions, pepper, and oil. She learned how to sell from her aunty and got her start-up capital from her husband. She uses a car to transport support to her business site.

To continue selling, Weedor requested for a loan through BRAC Liberia; a Kiva lending partner to buy more soap, rice, onions, pepper, and oil to sell to meet her customer’s demand. She likes her business because it supports her family. She wants to open a store and build houses for her children in the future. Weedor is highly grateful for the financial support BRAC and Kiva have rendered.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
