A loan helped to buy a cow.

Pom's story

Pom is an ethnic minority woman living in a stilt house in a rural village in a mountainous province. Her main source of income comes from agricultural production such as cultivating rice and breeding cows and chickens.

Sometimes, her husband and her son work as hired laborers to have more income. With about 10 years of experience, she took this loan to buy one more cow to expand her business. Besides, she could use the grass from her field to feed the cows to save input costs.

She will use the profit to cover living expenses and the rest for savings. Her daughter is in grade 12 and will be at college next year so she works very hard to prepare for her daughter's studies. Dropping out of school at the primary level, she hopes her daughter will have a better life through education. A happy family is all she needs.
