A loan helped to buy more ingredients to fry the chicken and chips she sells.

Lackel's story

Lackel is 34 years old and lives in the town of Gayaza in the Gayaza region of Uganda. She is married and has two children who are currently in school. For the past thirteen years Lackel has been working hard managing her catering business, selling fries, chips and chicken.

To help expand her business, Lackel has requested a loan of 6,000,000 UGX through Kiva's field partner BRAC Uganda to buy more ingredients to fry the chicken and chips she sells. This will help her to generate greater profits and improve her standards of living by providing enough food for her family. Lackel hopes that in the future she will be able to build rentals for more income.

Lackel is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small group members like Lackel who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
