Lindsey's story

Food has been my life’s passion for as long as I can remember. My journey began at 16, when I started my first restaurant job, balancing massive trays of steaming crawfish and catfish filets. When I left for college at 18, my life took an unexpected turn: I was diagnosed with cancer during my first summer home. Thanks to early detection and a major surgery, I avoided further treatment. The experience was terrifying, and I was left grappling with uncertainty and a lack of information about the cause of my illness. In response, I turned to nutrition, focusing on the quality of the foods I consumed to stay healthy and prevent future issues. I quickly discovered that the more I learned, the more enjoyable the process became. This newfound passion led me to the "farm to table" movement, where I sought out opportunities to work with fresh, unique ingredients. I found a restaurant with a creatively eccentric chef, a talented team, and a dedication to serving exceptional ingredients. I worked in both front-of-house and back-of-house roles, and I eagerly anticipated the weekly produce deliveries and the chef’s conversations with local farmers. Witnessing the synergy between the fields, the kitchen, and the dining room was a source of pure joy for me. Over the years, I immersed myself in every aspect of the industry—service, preparation, management, systems, technology, operations, and agriculture. Having learned so much from working for others, I realized my dream: to share my passion and knowledge of food directly with the community. In just two months, I will open River Street Market (...and deli), a space dedicated to quality, flavorful, and convenient food and wine. My goal is to make food approachable and enjoyable, removing any pretension. I hope to make a positive impact in my community by empowering others to create meaningful meals and experience the joy that food has brought to my life. Your support is essential in bringing River Street Market to life and ensuring its success. Thank you for joining me on this journey and becoming a vital part of this exciting and meaningful venture. Together, we can make River Street Market flourish and create something truly special.
