Nelly Joana decided to continue with the legacy of her grandfather and father. At 21, she is already in charge of the administration and management of her family's corn fields. She takes care of such fields with love and in detail.
Nelly Joana was born and raised in San Juan del Río, Querétaro, a place she cannot imagine herself leaving to live somewhere else since she loves the countryside. "Getting up and going down the road to the plots and seeing the green of the fields and the blue of the sky is therapeutic", says Nelly Joana.
Currently, Nelly Joana studies veterinary medicine in the morning and, in the afternoon, she is fully involved in the administration of her plots. In low season, she employs seven people, and in high season she hires ten extra people, all of them coming from the region where she lives. That is how she gives something back to the community that has given so much to her and her family.
Nelly Joana dreams of maintaining and caring for these plots of land that have been an important livelihood for her family and community for many years. She hopes to continue that legacy and pass it on to her children when they arrive.
Nelly Joanna is asking for a loan of 400,000 pesos to buy diesel (for the cutting machinery), fertilizers, and water, the latter two being of utmost importance for the preparation of the next corn harvest.
