A loan helped a new business K-dessert cafe buy a equipment and supplies to better serve our clients!

Jamie's story

After graduating from college in Korea, I moved to the United States to study ESL and eventually settled down here after meeting my husband. We lived in Hawaii for 9 years and Dallas for 8 years before moving to Milwaukee last year. Hawaii and Dallas had relatively large Korean populations compared to other states, with established Korean communities and cultural districts, so even while living in the U.S., I spent a lot of time within the Korean community. Although I've always had a desire to integrate more into American society, as time passed, I found myself hesitating more due to fears of language and cultural barriers.

However, moving to Wisconsin last year, where the Korean community isn't as well-formed, felt like an opportunity to truly take a step forward in the U.S. and sparked my interest in starting a business. Korea is known as one of the countries with a highly developed food culture, and I began to think about offering a unique experience for people in Wisconsin to taste Korean desserts.
