A loan helped to purchase water filter materials to provide 250,000 people with access to safe drinking water.

Nazava Water Filters Indonesia's story

Approximately 4.4 billion people worldwide lack access to potable water in their homes. This means that they have to drink contaminated water, risking illness, or must resort to boiling water or purchasing it—both of which can be prohibitively expensive.

Nazava Water Filters was established in Indonesia in 2009 to counter this problem by providing affordable, high-quality household water filters to lower-income households. Since then, Nazava has supplied around 285,000 water filters to low-income communities. For instance, the woman pictured here can now ensure her family has safe drinking water, while also using clean water for her small food stall where she sells lemonade.

With the support of a previous entity loan, Nazava scaled to produce an additional 40,000 systems, enough for around 200,000 people. Most of those filters now have been sold.

Sales has been increasing rapidly in Indonesia in the last 6 months and is expected to keep on growing. To meet this demand, Nazava needs to increase inventory again. A loan of $50,000 USD will allow Nazava to pre-order 80,000 water filter parts, which will be used to assemble 50,000 full filter systems and 30,000 replacement filters. The 50,000 systems can provide an additional 250,000 people with access to safe drinking water.

This loan is special because:

It will expand production and sales of water filters for safe drinking water in Indonesia.
