A loan helped to invest in supplies for her hammock weaving business.

Parichat's story

Parichat, born in rural village in Northern Thailand, moved to the bustling Bangkok area with her husband after they married. They both found work in factories—she in a seatbelt factory and he in an electric appliance factory. However, after two years, both factories shut down, forcing the couple to return to her husband’s rural Hmong hill-tribe village in the mountainous region of Northern Thailand. There, they raise their four children.

In the village, Parichat saw others successfully weaving hammocks and decided to learn the craft herself. She now primarily relies on her earnings from weaving to provide for her family's household necessities. Life in the village presents its challenges, including limited employment opportunities, fluctuating crop prices, and a lack of formal education. However, Parichat remains resilient and optimistic.

Having experienced the hardships of factory work, Parichat appreciates the opportunity to work from home, weaving hammocks. The income not only helps meet her family's basic needs but also offers a sense of pride and stability.

With this loan, Parichat plans to invest in raw materials for weaving, allowing her to secure consistent work throughout the year. This will not only improve her family's financial situation but also give them a chance to enhance their living conditions.

This loan is special because:
