A loan helped to buy more medicines for resale.


Resty's story

Resty is 23 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Mityana region of Uganda. She is married and has four children with three of them currently in school.

For the past seven years, Resty has been working hard to manage her pharmacy, which has a pharmacy and offers medical services. To help expand her business, Resty has requested a loan of 2,100,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more medicines for resale, and will help Resty to generate greater profits and manage to pay the loan and buy food for the family.

Resty hopes that in the future she will be able to open up another pharmacy outlet. She is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members, like Annet, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but do have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
